Countdown

Make a list of 10 features of some subject/person/etc, starting from general and moving towards specific. Read them out one at a time starting at the top, and have students do some action (eg. hold hands over mouth) when they think they know what the subject of the statements is. When all or most of the class seems to have the answer, let them guess. Read more clues if they are wrong. Great way to learn about students in the class or to pique interest in a new topic.

Example:

10. She is a girl in this class
9. She has brown hair
8. She has freckles
7. She likes cats
...
1. Her name starts with an "M"
Subject: Maria
